Hudson Technologies Performs Steam Energy
Savings Assessments in Industrial Plants for Department of Energy
Energy
Savings Assessments with Large Industrial Plants Help
Position Hudson to Introduce its Predictive and Preventative
Maintenance Services
Pearl River, New York – October 16, 2006 –
Hudson
Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: HDSN), a leading refrigerant services
company specializing in proprietary on-site decontamination services
for large comfort and industrial process cooling and refrigeration
systems, today announced that it has completed 10 Steam Energy
Savings Assessments awarded by the Department of Energy and expects
to complete one more before the year’s end.
Hudson is a
recognized Qualified Specialist in the use of the DOE’s
BestPractices Steam Tools Suite and functions as a steam energy
system expert to improve the overall steam system energy efficiency
in large industrial plants. The assessments are part of the DOE’s
Save Energy Now campaign.
Hudson has
completed these Steam Energy Saving Assessments for some of the
largest energy consuming industrial plants in the nation. The
assessments monitor energy intensive systems such as process heating
and steam in order to identify opportunities to save energy and
money. Energy Savings Assessments performed by Qualified
Specialists, such as Hudson Technologies, help to optimize these
systems and thereby offer industrial plants the ability to
capitalize on long-term savings. Results from the completed
assessments show that 80% of these energy savings opportunities have
paybacks of less than two years.
“We have expanded our energy optimization and efficiency
services to include evaluation of the overall steam systems in large
industrial plants,” said
Kevin
Zugibe, Chairman and CEO, Hudson Technologies. “Steam
is utilized in most industrial facilities and accounts for almost 40
percent of a plant’s energy consumption. Consequently, steam is
commonly used to drive large refrigeration and air conditioning
systems; servicing these systems is our core competency. With this
steam system expertise, Hudson can now take a systems approach in
optimizing the overall plant energy, rather then focusing solely on
the refrigeration systems.”
Some of the
assessments have led to additional engineering consulting work.
These assessments have also led to the introduction to key corporate
personnel at these industrial plants – the personnel at these
facilities who are responsible for Energy Optimization, Engineering,
Maintenance, Reliability and Control, Operations and Best Practices
– who may be interested in the predictive and preventative
maintenance services that we offer for their refrigeration systems.
“While the
revenues from these assessments are not material to total service
revenues today, we expect that the relationships being formed will
be valuable to Hudson in terms of future business opportunities,”
said Mr. Zugibe.
